The Priory of the Light has been active in support of our troups in harm's way in Iraq and Afganistan. The Priory is currently expanding this base to include hospitalized military personnel and military families in need.
The Priory of the Light is active - to the degree we are able - in disaster relief. We were able to give support to the Katrina and Rita efforts.
The Priory arranged for a $17,000 X-ray unit to be donated, shipped, installed and calibrated in a small community for use with a local population and many expatriate Americans living in the area.
Donations of money and supplies were given to Habitat for Humanity to benefit those that were victims of the many wildfires in the State of Arizona.
The Priory supports the Jerusalem Mite. The money collected is used for the care and upkeep of Christian sites in the Holy Land. Through our association with the Grand Priory of the United States, the Priory of the Light contributes to the following:
- The Franciscans in the Holy Land.
- The Augusta Victoria Hospital, operated by the Lutheran Diocese of Jerusalem.
- The Anglican Diocese (to support St. George Cathedral and School) in Jerusalem.
- The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate.
- The Armenian Patriarchate to maintain many Old Quarter sites.
- The International Orthodox Christian Charities.
- The Chaldean Charities.
- The Red Cross.
- The Salvation Army.
- Fisher Houses.
- Doctors Without Borders.
Each member also has personal charitable commitments.
A major goal of the Priory of the Light is to research and establish a charitable relationship with an organization centered in the southwest so that its members can not only donate funds but also have a hands on aspect of giving.
